Welding FAQ

Straight answers to the questions we hear most — pricing, response times, certifications, and how mobile welding works.

How much does mobile welding cost per hour?

The typical market rate for mobile welding in West Texas runs about $100 to $250 per hour, depending on the type of work, materials, and job conditions. Simple repairs on the low end, pipeline and structural work on the high end. Every job gets an upfront quote before work starts, so you know the price before we strike an arc.

What is your minimum charge for a service call?

Our minimum is $300 per service call. Rolling a rig truck to your location costs real money — fuel, setup time, and consumables — so even a small repair carries this floor. Most small jobs are quoted as a flat price, which often works out better for you than hourly billing.

Do you charge a callout or trip fee?

Within our core service area around Midland and Odessa, there is no separate trip fee — travel to your site is built into the quote. For jobs farther out in the Permian Basin, we may add a reasonable travel charge, but it will be stated clearly in your upfront quote before any work begins.

How fast can you get a welder to me in an emergency?

Our phone is answered 24/7, including nights, weekends, and holidays. For emergencies in Midland and Odessa, we typically dispatch within the hour; for outlying areas of the Permian Basin, it depends on distance and current job load. When you call, we'll give you a straight answer on arrival time — and if we can't get to you fast enough, we'll tell you.

Do I need to have power available on site?

No. Our rig trucks carry their own generators and welding machines, so we can work anywhere — lease roads, remote pad sites, ranches, or yards with no utilities at all. You don't need to provide power, water, or shop space; just site access.

What areas do you serve?

We're based in the Midland–Odessa area and serve the wider Permian Basin, including Gardendale, Stanton, Big Spring, Pecos, Monahans, and surrounding communities. Call us if you're on the edge of that map — for bigger jobs, we travel.

What certifications matter for oilfield and pipeline welding?

This is general guidance, not a claim about our crews: for oilfield and pipeline work, the two standards that matter most are AWS D1.1 (Structural Welding Code) and API 1104 (Welding of Pipelines). Operators and pipeline companies often require welders qualified to one or both. Always ask any welding contractor which codes they weld to and verify qualifications for your specific job.

Do you take residential jobs, or only commercial work?

Our bread and butter is commercial and industrial work — oilfield, service companies, ranches, and facilities. We do take residential jobs like gate repair, fencing, and structural fixes on a case-by-case basis, subject to the $300 minimum service call. Call and describe the job; we'll tell you straight whether it's a fit.

How do quotes work?

Call or send the form, and we'll come to your location for an on-site assessment. The welder scopes the repair in person — material, access, and safety considerations — and gives you a firm, upfront price before any work starts. No surprises mid-job: if conditions change, we discuss and approve any price change before continuing.

What are your payment terms?

You don't pay until the job is finished to your satisfaction. Small jobs are paid on completion; larger projects may be billed in progress draws agreed up front. We accept standard business payment methods, and commercial accounts can arrange terms. Payment is due per the terms on your invoice.

What information should I have ready when I call?

It helps to know: where the job is located (be as specific as you can — GPS pin, gate code, or lease directions), what needs welding and what it's made of (steel, aluminum, stainless), how urgent it is, whether you have photos, and any site safety requirements or permits on oilfield locations. Don't worry if you don't know the metal — we can figure that out on site.

Can you weld aluminum and stainless steel?

Yes. Our rigs are set up for MIG, TIG, and stick welding across common materials — carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Tell us what you've got when you call so we bring the right wire, rods, and gas.

Can you repair heavy equipment on site?

Yes — heavy equipment repair is one of our core services. Cracked frames, broken bucket teeth, worn pivot points, guard repairs, and structural rebuilds can usually be done where the machine sits, so you avoid the cost and downtime of hauling it to a shop.

Do you supply materials, or do I need to provide them?

We bring common consumables and steel stock on the truck, and we can source specialty materials as needed — it's all included in your quote. If you'd rather supply your own material, just tell us when you call and we'll adjust the price accordingly.

What happens if the job turns out bigger than the quote?

We stop, show you what we found, and talk through the options before any extra work happens. You'll approve any price change in writing before we continue. We never stack surprise charges on top of an agreed quote.

Do you work nights and weekends?

Yes. The phone is answered 24/7 and our crews work nights, weekends, and holidays. The oilfield doesn't keep business hours, and neither do we. After-hours emergency work may carry a premium — it'll be stated in your quote before we start.

Do you guarantee your welds?

We stand behind our workmanship: if a weld we made fails due to a defect in our work, we'll come back and make it right. That guarantee covers our workmanship, not damage from misuse, overloading, or conditions outside the scope of the original repair. Specific warranty terms are confirmed on your invoice.

How will I know the welder on my job is qualified?

Ask us directly — we're happy to discuss our welders' experience and the codes they weld to. For code work (structural, pipeline, pressure), tell us the requirements up front and we'll confirm the assigned welder's qualifications before the job is scheduled. Always ask any contractor the same questions; a good outfit welcomes them.
