Structural Welding in Odessa, TX
Commercial steel that has to stand straight, hold load, and pass inspection. We bring mobile structural welding to your job site in Odessa, Midland, and across the Permian Basin — new construction steel, modifications, and repairs, done on your schedule.
Steel work without the shop bottleneck
General contractors and facility managers in Odessa know the pattern: the steel package is up, but something changed. A beam needs a new connection. A mezzanine opening moved. A stair doesn't land where the drawings said it would. Or the original erector is gone and you're left with a punch list of welds nobody wants to touch.
That's where a mobile structural welder earns its keep. We come to your site with the machine, the electrodes, and the ability to read a drawing — and we work around your other trades instead of making them wait on a shop's lead time. Columns, beams, bar joist repairs, deck attachments, embed welds, and connection fixes: the field structural work that keeps a project moving.
We also handle the repair side of structural steel — cracked welds discovered at inspection, storm-damaged canopies, corroded supports at industrial facilities, and the long list of "can you fix this while you're here" items that show up on every real job site.
Structural work we do
- Column and beam connections — field welds for new connections, missed welds, and connection modifications on commercial frames.
- Mezzanines and platforms — new installs, openings, handrail and kick-plate work, and load-path modifications.
- Stairs and railings — structural stair stringer welds, landing connections, and code-compliant handrail repairs.
- Bar joist and deck repair — damaged joist ends, deck weld repairs, and sidelap fixes on existing structures.
- Embed plates and anchors — field welding of embeds, base plates, and anchor connections.
- Canopies and awnings — structural repairs to commercial canopies, gas station canopies, and shade structures.
- Pipe racks and supports — structural steel for industrial pipe racks, equipment skids, and supports.
- Equipment platforms — access platforms, catwalks, ladders, and safety-yellow steel at industrial sites.
- Metal building repairs — purlin, girt, and frame repairs on pre-engineered metal buildings.
- Crane and hoist supports — runway beam connections and support steel modifications.
- Seismic and wind retrofits — added bracing, moment connections, and hold-down steel per engineering.
- Punch-list and inspection repairs — the leftover welds your erector didn't finish, done to pass re-inspection.
Process, drawings, and what inspectors want to see
Structural field welding is done to AWS D1.1 structural welding code practice — 7018 low-hydrogen electrodes on A36 and A992 steel, proper preheat when thickness and weather call for it, and weld profiles that pass visual inspection. If your project has a specific welding procedure specification or an inspector with acceptance criteria, we weld to your documents and coordinate directly with your special inspection firm.
Our standard process is SMAW (stick) with FCAW (flux-cored) available for higher-deposition work like long beam connections and heavy plate. We can work from structural drawings, redlines, or a sketch on a tailgate — but we read them carefully either way, because a field weld that doesn't match the detail is worse than no weld at all.
Materials: A36 and A992 structural steel, plus the plate, angle, and tube that connection work eats through. Tell us the steel sizes when you call and we'll load accordingly — showing up short on 5/16" plate wastes everybody's afternoon.
How it works
1. Call with the scope
What needs welding, where the site is, and whether there are drawings. Photos of the connections help us price accurately.
2. Site visit and quote
We come look at the steel, confirm access and lift needs, and give you a firm number — hourly with a minimum or a fixed price for defined scopes.
3. Weld it
We mobilize with the right process and material, work around your schedule and other trades, and keep the site clean.
4. Sign-off
Walk the work with you or your superintendent. If there's an inspector, we coordinate with them directly.
We serve commercial and industrial clients across Odessa, Midland, and the surrounding Permian Basin. For after-hours structural emergencies — a damaged canopy, a compromised support — our 24/7 emergency service applies the same way it does on a lease.
